First Place in the Supreme Court Case Competition

Yesterday, at the solemn assembly of the 100th anniversary of the Supreme Court, the authors of the best works of the competition and their instructors were awarded at the Tartu Town Hall. This year’s case competition was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Supreme Court and the Constitution. Tamsalu and Väike-Maarja students were among the best in the 15th case competition.

Tamsalu Gymnasium 11th grade student Geiri Suur took first place. Her instructor was teacher Maie Nõmmik.

Geiri Suur brought home first place for the second year in a row. This time, Geiri’s success was secured by a civil litigation solution. It questioned whether adoption is influenced by the fact that the adopter, the registered partner 0f the child’s parent are of the same sex. Only the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia could be relied upon to resolve the cases.

Geiri Suur thought that she possibly succeeded with trying to find as many different angles as possible for the couple to be entitled to in the situation. The 11th grade student said she was interested in law, but would not associate it with her future. “I’m proud, the result is pretty good,” she commented on the win. ”
